Iberica – Iberica Spinningfields in Manchester – Review

Tapas is one of my all-time favourite foods. I love to pick and as an indecisive woman, it means I can have a little bit of everything! There are a few good tapas joints in Manchester and I’d actually wanted to try Iberica for some time, especially as Spinningfields in the sun is one of the best places in the city!

Iberica - Iberica Spinningfields in Manchester - ReviewWe headed down at 6.30 to catch the last of the evening sun on what was one of the warmest days of the year and it didn’t disappoint. We were greeted by the lovely hostess who gave us the choice of having a drink at the bar first, so my hubby and I jumped at the chance of a cold Shindigger Pilsner beer and Aperol Spritz (it was a toss up between that or the sangria)!

We actually decided to have a second drink at the bar as the ambience was so enjoyable; a sophisticated yet laidback authentic Spanish vibe- something that took us both a little by surprise as no other tapas place in Manchester creates an atmosphere quite like it. The interior was impressive: airy and modern but with some classic Spanish features and of course, the cured meat corner! We were treated to a tomato bruschetta with a little Serrano ham, which really whet our appetite for more!

Midway through our second drink, we headed to the table and greeted by Pepe- our waiter for the evening, who was fabulous. The service was impeccable and we couldn’t fault a thing. Pepe’s knowledge of the menu was extensive and his recommendations were spot on! We didn’t take advantage of the extensive wine menu as I was running London Marathon a few days later, but we’ll be back to sample all the wines now it’s over!

Hubs and I agreed on 7 delicious dishes: Croquetas with Serrano ham, Patatas Bravas, Chorizo lollipops, Iberica burgers, twice cooked lamb and a side of Spring vegetables. My honest opinion… not one single dish disappointed and I actually wanted to eat the whole meal over again! My favourite dish had to be the chorizo lollipops, coated in subtle yet tasty tempura batter and served with pear aioli. We did indulge in dessert… come on, I was carb loading to run a marathon- it had to be done haha! We went for classic churros with rich chocolate sauce: nothing but sheer delight!

All in all, we loved our visit to Iberica and couldn’t recommend it enough! We will be back for sure!
